1. ## Time projection

Hi,

i want ask you guys how you handle time projection in harmonic patterns? lets discuss 2 basic pattern gartley and butterfly. from my personal observations i've noticed that best setups are when AB=CD in time. Yesterday i was again reading Scott Carney book to refresh memory and he mention about time symetry for gartley time X to B point = B to D point, and if I understand him correctly he project time from X to B and doesnt enter trade earlier that 38,2% time projection, and he claims that price should turn back until it reaches 100% time projection, from this point we should protect profit (BE)

So my question is, do you project time when looking for harmonic patterns? how u doing it? what are your observeations and thoughts on this topic?

I found nice case of bearih butterfly on EURSD M30

2. Although I keep in mind the projection ratios noted by Carney and Pesavento, in my experience they are not too reliable. As a result, I project a range of Fibonacci ratios and watch as each is approached. This is the same problem as price ratios. If, for example, an X-D ratio is specified as 1.618 does one reject the pattern if it is off by X%? And what should X be? Also, if instead of 1.618 it looks like 1.786 is that OK? I've asked both Gurus these type of questions but did not get a definite answer. All of which argues for my feeling that the patterns are just another indicator and should not be assumed to be able to stand on their own without confirmation from other indicators. Just my 2pesos.

3. I have my thinking on the time projections, but i am going to wait for the others comments first.

i am actually still not fully fixed myself:
- is Time more important than price (kind of cyclic approach) or
- is Time&Price together what counts most

i know that Price without Time is not enough with the harmonic approach, at least for me :-)

4. I think time is equally important as price, very interesting approach is presented by Robert Minor in his book Dynamic Trading,
qoute from his book:
Price and time are effect of the same cause. Time = Price or as W.D. gann said: When time and price square, change is inevitable
page 202 of his book:

he also project time in same maner from High-to-High and Low-to-Low, look on the same bearish butterfly from my first post with those projections:

Interesting isn't it ?

5. it's not full approach, of course we can find cases when it works like presented, but it's not any general solution.

6. offcourse, i still think that basic rule is AB=CD in Price&Time, and if price is going faster to 1.27AB time is shorter, as you said somewhere Price*Time,

Iam just wondering about other methods which can help

7. yes price x time helps a lot, AB=CD as presented here for the Garltey pattern: http://tradingarsenal.com/showthread...artley-pattern

anyone can share his/her experience with Time and/or Time x Price projections?

8. thefib channel by oswald used as time barriers after you enter trades. if you want, that seems to be ok.

9. Pls how did you draw the time projection and how do you place it
