I've gotten really familiar with advanced harmonics over the past several months, and I must say, I have found the missing puzzle piece in my harmonic system. Volume Spread Analysis. As fellow harmonic traders here I just had to share, it really was a game changer for me. Harmonics combined with a strong grasp of price action and volume spread, and the money will come. I urge you all to check it out.

    Fx4mt,

I agree that VSA adds a new layer of understanding. I have become a member of the VSA Club after much resistance to the topic. Volume as an indicator of activity will definitely act like snowprint. However, if you are really interested in this level of trading, then look at the next level, this is that of footprint and order flow analysis (Home).

Although I am a pure structure and pattern trader (geometries and harmonics), I was definitely able to find an edge using VSA.

However, with KorX sharing the Wolfe Pattern, I can now continue my research in structural analysis, geometry discoveries and mix it all up with the VSA principles.

Just can't get enough of this.

    Thank you for sharing!

Too much lag in my opinion, unless the MAs are based on smaller digits (i.e.: 3-AM x 5-MA x 13-MA), but I have not been able to find it useful. I have spend the last few years using geometry-based trading for the purpose of forecasting tip-top and bottom-tip reversals. In contrast, MA's tend to signal meaty profits AFTER trend occurred, not where it started, unless someone more astute could prove otherwise, and I'd be curious to read all about it.

I have downloaded the PDF from Mr. Wolfe's Wolfe Waves. Now, that's cool.

I held a trading seminar this morning. Lasted 3.5+ hours (gasp! But the students wanted to carry on and on. So, I pulled the Wolve Wave PDF I read downloaded and read last night. Already had two charts to demonstrate potentials. That definitely put the cherry on top of the cake!

So, again, thank you for sharing!

    KorX,

Great, candid and gutsy for sharing.

Took the words out of my mind, but I would have never wanted to share. Now that you had more guts than I (and most), I can definitely say that I completely align my style with yours.

Again, thank you for asking and sharing your comments.

    1. Do you keep a record of every trade that you take ?
my comment: I do not, and I do not suffer because of this. Would my trading results be better if I would keep a journal with each trade?

    2. How many trading strategies do you use ?
my comment: One, it's enough for me. If it can be called strategy at all? I use the practical elements of other/various systems/strategies, I select what works and makes sense (for me).

    3. Do you have a trading plan ?
my comment: No, not one that is properly written and kept next to my monitor. I have a list of mistakes I did in the past and I try to avoid them ... which is not easy, must admit.

Your comments and opinions are welcome. You may also drop me a private message regarding these if you afraid (for some reason) to share your thinking openly on the Forum.
    have a good weekend,

Yes we understand, you thank him for sharing. Back on-topic.

As soon as someone brings up MA's the first response is "they lag". But you know, there are more ways to use moving averages.. per example they can be used for cycle or wave analysis.

@Fx4mt : can you give an example or two how you use VSA in combination with Harmonic Trading, for example Gartley or Bat pattern?

@dalcindo: which Wolfe Wave PDF? please put a link and also let other guys know if there is interesting webinar available :-), thanks

@wickedwin: exactly, agree with you. Actually i had a chat on skype group regarding this:

[2013-02-02 19:31:21] gerard: personally I think its a huge myth that you can filter out good patterns in such ways by adding indicators etc ... but I could be 100% wrong
[2013-02-02 19:32:50] gerard: I think if you see a pattern apear out of the blue but you dont see that the market has respected any fib ratios previously ... then perhaps there is a good chance that the pattern will not play out.
[2013-02-02 19:34:22] gerard: I did well on FTSE for like 4 months but then that market just got wild and nothing was respected
[2013-02-02 19:34:39] Kor4x: so no use of MAs with HT?
[2013-02-02 19:35:27] gerard: I suppose it needs to be seen and tested
    [2013-02-02 19:35:35] gerard: (but I doubt it)
    [2013-02-02 19:35:55] gerard: anyway I thought you was on a roll ?
[2013-02-02 19:37:07] Kor4x: but MAs is also MACD. and many use macd
[2013-02-02 19:39:36] gerard: how do you propose to use MA ? crossover ?
    [2013-02-02 19:39:56] gerard: i do not propose
    [2013-02-02 19:40:04] gerard: i am thinking loud
[2013-02-02 19:40:55] gerard: well if that is what you are thinking ... I think it would be lagging alot. So you might have more wins but bigger losses. (I think).
[2013-02-02 20:05:51] Kor4x: there is a book about Hurst cycles that explain how to use MAs to identify cycles
[2013-02-02 20:05:57] Kor4x: this would make sense witH HT
