Thanks for the reply Kor.
I was wondering if anyone has done any analysis on how the value of the MinSwing parameter affects the size (duration) of the patterns & the frequency with which they occur.
My observation is that when set to default '0' the patterns produced are very large. The duration of the ABCD part of the Butterflys & Gartleys is 500+ bars and the frequency of patterns produced is consequently quite low. The patterns that appear on AmpMonitor are much smaller than the ones produced by the Korharmonics indicator with default MinSwing.
I have also run limited testing with MinSwing set to 150 on a 5 min chart (compared to the default value of 400 for most pairs when it is set to 0). Here the patterns are much shorter - avg 25 bars for ABCD duration and signals are much more frequent. However they also appear to be less reliable as many of these small patterns form then fail and disappear.
I am trying to find a balance between frequent patterns that complete their retracement beyond 'D' in a time frame thet suits my Intraday trading style, but also provides a good level of accuracy.
I will keep on testing & post findings here. I would be interested if anyone has been down this road before.
