Question What is the ideal chat position for a Gartley?

What would be the ideal chart position for a Gartley pattern?
e.g would it be the first retrace after the start of a new swing?

The ideal position of the Gartley pattern is presented here -> Gartley pattern and Elliot Wave theory
See also Gartley pattern definition to read how it was defined by the author.
For me it's the most powerful market setup.

BTW: The continuation Gartley pattern is already a mutation and is still a valid (not ideal, but valid) location if one understands the wave degrees (context of waves within waves). The Reversal versus Continuation Gartley concept is presented here: Reversal and Continuation Gartley pattern

It is as I thought and it also seems like the butterfly usually proceeds the gartley
    This is great! Thank you.

Butterfly is also very powerful pattern, my favourite as well. Note however that for me the Gartley and Butterfly are very different and rarelly one (Gartley) converts into another (Butterfly), as their internal structures, B point location and overall chart location is different.

I made a blog post with this info, as it's so common question -> FOREX Harmonic Trading: Ideal chart location for a Gartley pattern?

We will prepare materials regarding the Gartley pattern that will cover this topic much deeper.

Understanding the chart position of both the Gartley and the Butterfly will definitely help me avoid entering early as I can sometimes mistake and emerging Butterfly as a Gartley.

So would you say the best place to trade a Gartley is at the end of a retracment or major support and resistance of a higher time frame.

e.g you may be looking for a gartley on the 5 - 15 min time frame as the 1 hour time frame comes to a major fib or s/r point?

bravo, you understood something that many still struggle to get. S/R is one of the method to precisely confirm the Gartley. You may try to look for more methods.
